Product Overview

The D1×1 Manual Bidirectional Push Normally Closed Optical Switch with Splitter is a high-performance, passive fiber optic component engineered for precision optical path control in laboratory testing, fiber optic sensing systems, and compact data centers. Unlike standard optical switches, this innovative device integrates two independent 1×1 optical switch ports, allowing for simultaneous control of two non-interfering optical paths.

Its defining feature is the "manual bidirectional push" operation, where the optical path is established only when both ends of the device are pressed simultaneously. The "normally closed" (NC) initial state ensures both optical paths remain disconnected when no force is applied, significantly enhancing operational safety and preventing accidental light transmission. Housed in a durable white aluminum alloy case and utilizing G.657A2 bend-insensitive fiber with LC/UPC connectors, this mechanical optical switch offers exceptional reliability and environmental adaptability for critical applications.

Key Features

·         Dual 1x1 Port Design: Controls two independent optical paths with a single action, boosting testing and maintenance efficiency by over 50%.

·         Normally Closed (NC) Initial State: Optical paths are disconnected by default, eliminating the risk of accidental transmission from unintended contact.

·         Bidirectional Manual Push Operation: Optical path is established only when both ends are pressed simultaneously. Pressing a single end keeps the path disconnected, ensuring maximum safety.

·         G.657A2 Bend-Insensitive Fiber: Minimum bending radius of just 7.5 mm, supporting full-band transmission (1260-1625nm) for flexible and compact installation.

·         Integrated Dual Splitters: Comes pre-equipped with both 50/50 and 1/99 optical splitters to meet various signal monitoring and tapping requirements.

·         Low Insertion Loss: Typical switch loss < 0.35 dB ensures high signal integrity.

·         High Return Loss: ≥ 55 dB minimizes back reflections and signal interference.

·         Wide Operating Temperature: -40°C to +85°C, suitable for harsh industrial and outdoor environments.

·         Passive Design: No external power supply needed, reducing system complexity and maintenance costs.

·         Armored Pigtail Output: Provides robust mechanical protection and environmental stability for the output fibers.

Operating Principle

The D1×1 optical switch operates on a precision mechanical alignment mechanism. Its unique dual-port, normally closed logic ensures safe and reliable operation:

1.    Initial State (Both Ends Released - Normally Closed): Internally, each of the two 1x1 ports consists of a fixed fiber and a movable fiber. In the default state, a precision return spring holds the movable fiber in an offset position, misaligned with the fixed fiber's optical axis. This keeps both optical paths securely disconnected.

2.    Single-End Push (Both Paths Remain Disconnected): If only one end of the switch is pressed, the corresponding movable fiber moves, but an internal "single-end stroke lock" prevents it from traveling the full distance needed for alignment. The other port remains untouched. This design prevents accidental导通 (connection) from a single-point press.

3.    Dual-End Simultaneous Push (Both Paths Connected): When both ends are pressed together, a mechanical linkage drives the movable fibers in both ports to their precise alignment positions. The optical axes of the fixed and movable fibers become perfectly aligned, allowing optical signals to pass through both paths simultaneously. Releasing the pressure allows the springs to return the fibers to the offset, "normally closed" state. This purely mechanical, passive operation is ideal for field environments where no electrical power is available.

Product Advantages

·         Enhanced Safety: The normally closed design is fail-safe, preventing unintended optical radiation.

·         High Efficiency: Dual-path control dramatically speeds up testing and dual-link management.

·         Superior Optical Performance: Low insertion loss and high return loss ensure top signal quality.

·         Exceptional Durability: Wide temperature range, armored cable, and metal housing guarantee reliable operation in harsh conditions.

·         Zero Power Consumption: The passive, mechanical optical switch design eliminates the need for power wiring and saves energy.

·         Cost-Effective: Integrates the functionality of two switches and two splitters into one compact unit, reducing overall system costs.

·         Reliable Quality: Every unit undergoes rigorous individual testing with complete data documentation provided.
